Work Experience

Hospice placements offer college and university students a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in compassionate, person-centred care for individuals with life-limiting illnesses. Students from nursing, social work, psychology, and allied health disciplines can engage in multidisciplinary learning alongside experienced hospice professionals. Placements may include shadowing clinical staff, participating in family support services, contributing to bereavement care, and assisting with therapeutic activities. These experiences not only deepen students’ understanding of palliative care principles but also foster empathy, resilience, and holistic care skills essential for future healthcare practice. Speak with your College or University tutor or contact your local hospice for more information.
