Lancashire and South Cumbria Hospices Together and the University of Lancashire have collaborated to facilitate workforce development in hospice and palliative care.

Hospices face significant workforce challenges amid the changing landscape of healthcare in England. By working together, we improve our chances of successfully addressing these challenges. After initial discussions between LSCHT and the University of Lancashire in 2024, a co-creation event hosted by the university produced a vision for shared learning, career development opportunities, and research potential.

In April 2025, the University of Cumbria was invited to join the collaborative to broaden the project’s footprint. Other partners include NHS organisations and colleges of further education.
